How do I care for my veil?Updated 16 days ago
Your veil is a beautiful part of your wedding day story, and with the right care, it can be kept in excellent condition long after the celebration ends. Here’s how to store it properly:
1. Pick a Safe Storage Environment
Choose a spot that’s cool, dry, and out of direct sunlight.
Heat and humidity can damage delicate fabric, and too much sun exposure may cause fading or yellowing over time.
2. Lay It Flat or Hang It Carefully
If space allows, lay your veil flat—it’s the best way to avoid deep creases. You can use acid-free tissue between folds to prevent lines from forming.
Alternatively, hang it on a padded hanger, making sure it has plenty of room to hang freely without being squished by other clothing.
3. Use a Protective Fabric Cover
Cover your veil with a breathable garment bag, preferably made of cotton or muslin.
Avoid plastic coverings, which can trap moisture and lead to mildew, mold, or discoloration.
4. Be Gentle When Handling
Wash and dry your hands before touching your veil, especially if it has lace, embroidery, or beading. These details are delicate and can snag easily.
5. Store It Separately
Give your veil its own space — storing it apart from heavier garments helps avoid crushing, tangling, or pulling on delicate areas.
6. De-Wrinkle with Care
Should wrinkles appear, use a gentle handheld steamer, or have it professionally steamed. Never use an iron directly on the fabric, as it can scorch or melt the material.
